The Clock

Big Ben, of course.

Located at the end of the Palace of Westminster, the clock first ticked in 1859.

The nickname Big Ben was first applied to the Great Bell in the tower and may have been named after Sir Benjamin Hall who oversaw the installation of the Great Bell. BTW, it does chime every quarter hour.

This is the other end of the Palace of Westminster.

You can climb to the top of Big Ben if you're from the U.K. by arranging a visit through your member of Parliament. The clock isn't open to international visitors. It's true.

Cleaning Day

Of course I didn't take this photo. I found it on the internet, but couldn't resist adding it to the post.
