Strasbourg

Our first stop as we headed south was the town of Strasbourg, France.

Randi took this shot of these windmills and although I'm not exactly sure where we were at the time . . . if I had to guess, I'd say we were in Germany!

Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region of northeastern France. It is also very near the German border.

The first evidence of human occupation in Strasbourg dates back 600,000 years.

The streets are quaint . . .

with plenty of little shops and cafes.

There's also a massive cathedral. This picture doesn't do justice to the effect of the lights at night.

And of course I can never capture the entire structure because these churches are so tall!

Detail of the front of the Strasbourg Cathedral de Notre Dame.

This is a florist. Each day they throw fresh rose petals on the ground. Isn't that beautiful?

The Ill River runs through Strasbourg.

View of a neighborhood with a typical timber-framed house.

This is the area called Petite France. Narrow streets, cafes, shops, and pedestrian friendly.

Strasbourg, France.
It is a tourist destination and I can see why.
