Japanese Tuin II

Last year in August we visited a local attraction, the Japanese Garden. There are a couple hundred cherry trees and we decided to plan another visit the following Spring.

We were reminded of that decision this past Thursday when we passed by the garden and could see all the cherry trees blooming. It was like a pink cloud.

This past weekend was the opening day of the garden.

Saturday was a beautiful day and the temperature was almost up to 70F! We walked over to the garden in anticipation of seeing the pink cloud close up.

Here they are. No, it was no longer a pink cloud . . .

it was a pink snowfall.

Apparently some time between Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon, this happened! All the cherry blossoms were on the ground!

The garden was still beautiful and worth the visit.

The tulip trees were in full bloom.

And it was the perfect day for whatever these are. Maybe pear?

I noted the other day that despite all the flowering trees here, there are no dogwoods. With this cloudy, rainy, and temperate climate, I would think they would thrive. Although the dogwood is native to the Eastern U.S., there are supposedly European dogwoods, but I have never seen one.
