München

Yet another unplanned stop on our trip was the city of Münich, Germany.

(or München as they like to call it in Deutschland)

This city is just full of fabulous architecture.

This looks like a church, but it is actually part of the Town Hall.

And so is this.

And this.

The Town Hall from the front.

Talbruck Gate Tower

Marienplatz is the center of town.
The Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) is in the background.

This is the Hofbrauhaus (Brewhouse) - a huge beer drinking hall with long wooden tables, benches and pretzels. It's been around for about 400 years and was a royal brewery of the Kingdom of Bavaria. It also served as one of the beer halls where the Nazi party held functions. We had dinner here and decided it ranks as some of the best food we've ever eaten.

Don't worry - he didn't drink it all!

I helped him :)

Munich is a huge city (over a million people) and we only saw a fraction of it. It also took us a solid hour just to get out of town. The traffic was very heavy. Worth a second visit even though it is about six hours away.
