Beware

. . . the Ides of March. Not really, but today is that day in the Roman calendar. There's no full moon though.

Did you know this festive day was dedicated to the Roman god of war, Mars? As you know in the Gregorian calendar (the one we use), March is the 3rd month, but the original month of March is named for this god of war and was once the first month of the year. Since Spring starts in March, it made sense it would be the beginning of the calendar year.

Of course, we all know the story of Julius Caesar, who was stabbed to death on this day in 44 B.C. And by the way, caesarean sections have nothing to do with Julius Caesar.

And from what I've read, the Mars candy bar has nothing to do with the Roman god of war.

But I do know that the weather here today on the Ides of March is just beautiful! The March flower, the jonquil, is blooming all over town and the sun is shining with an expected high of 16C (61F)!

Have a great day.
