Innsbruck, Austria (population 120,000) lies in a broad valley between two mountains in the Alps.
We made a very quick stop in our 12 hour drive that day!
The Goldenes Dachle (Golden Roof) is decorated with 2657 fire-gilded copper tiles. It was built in 1500 for Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor where he could sit and enjoy tournaments in the square below. I have no idea why it is called "golden" if it is actually copper.
