En El Camino - to Zaragoza

We headed northwest from Barcelona to the city of Zaragoza.

I took quite a few photos along the E-90 as we made the 2 hour drive.  By the way, interstate roads throughout Europe are designated by an E (meaning European) followed by a number.

This was the typical landscape the entire way.

It was hard to tell if that structure was built on top or if the mountain was just carved away to form it :)

You can see it's a bit desolate.  There is only one city and a couple of small towns along the way.  I can't think of a route I've taken in the States where there was one city and no more than two small towns on a 2-hour stretch of interstate.  Probably somewhere in South Dakota.

These are fields of wheat and there were miles and miles of wheat growing here.

We ran into a little rain, but it doesn't seem to rain very often here since everything was so dry.  We nearly had the road to ourselves too.

The further we drove the landscape slowly got a little greener.

As Jim said . . . that magic combination - rain and green :)
