You can see it in the northwest corner of Spain near the French border.
This photo was taken as we got started on the road up the mountain. It didn't seem treacherous at this point . . .
We decided to stay at a farm outside the city. We've found "farm stays" are usually an interesting adventure.
Agritourism in Europe is where a family that owns a farm offers rooms and sometimes meals. Some even offer work on the farm. It's sort of like a B and B, but not quite the same accommodations - more rustic. Of course, they are usually nowhere near a city which is part of the charm. We've also never worked on a farm! Just spent the night.

This is one of only a few pictures I took on our drive up the mountain because I nearly had a nervous breakdown. The road got so narrow and only one lane wide. There were no longer any berms or guard rails. It was obvious if we encountered another car we would have to go in reverse downhill . . . you get the picture. Mercifully, we did not meet another car.
Turns out there was an alternate route that our GPS failed to put us on! That's right! Now we know why we were the only car on that ridiculous pig trail. Even the hotel website (we booked through a booking agency) recommended going the other route to "avoid bad roads or have a longer stroke". I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I know I nearly had a "longer stroke". Poor Jim. I wasn't even driving! We took the alternate route out.
This was our cabin/room.
