Beyond Ikeadom

Although we do love Ikea, the last few weekends we've gone in search of a few things to take back to the States with us that didn't come from Ikea!

We had no idea there was so much out there!

Doors and more doors.

This place specializes in old material to be used in new construction.

They had thousands of doors.  Two warehouses full of them.

There was a total of 10 acres at this site with plenty of tiles and stone.

Another two warehouses full of this type of stuff.

Acres of old used bricks.  I didn't even realize they were old until I got up close.

I can't imagine how long it took to accumulate this kind of inventory.

Jim thought this was interesting.

This next place was unbelievable.  Most everything was HUGE.

Warehouse after warehouse full of stuff.

Where do they go to find all this stuff?!

One could easily furnish a castle or a cathedral!

This was one of my favorite places.  They had really put together some beautiful rooms.

So, after all that shopping, we bought

this beautiful dining table built in the 1800's

this 100-plus year old pine door

and this wrought iron table base (it's upside down in this picture) which will be transformed into something special for sure!

  1. That kind of shopping requires that you kiss many frogs! It is my favorite pastime though. Love your new table!
