We began to head north back toward Belgium and stayed in a remote location called Ouches, France. It may be our favorite place so far!
This is Chateau d'Origny. It's a bed and breakfast about an hour and a half from Lyon, France. It really is in the middle of nowhere - which is part of its charm.
This is the library. The couple who own the 16th century chateau moved from Belgium in 2005 to renovate this huge castle and start their business.
An extra dining room - not where we had dinner and breakfast. The owner said the house had been left in disrepair - even the windows and doors were left open - for decades.
Me and the hond after the kill :)
This is the dining room where we ate the most wonderful meal.
It was warm and inviting.
The kitchen is beautiful and the owners are excellent cooks.
I don't often take photos of food, but this was the best meat I've ever eaten. It's pheasant! Thoroughly cooked, by the way.
There are 5 rooms in the bed and breakfast and we were lucky enough to stay in this one.
It is huge and there was a wood burning stove (plus heaters) so it was cozy despite being in a very old castle.
Winslow wasted no time making himself at home.
This was the view out our window. This photo has not been edited at all, but it looks sort of like an oil painting.

Santé!
