Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress
aka The Tower of London
The Tower was founded towards the end of 1066 and has been used as a royal residence, armory, prison, and treasury. It is also the home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. These are worn during coronation and include crowns, sceptres, rings, swords and the royal robe.
Sadly, due to the holidays, the Tower was not open.
Next time.
These next two pictures I found on the internet.
These are England's Crown Jewels.
The Imperial Crown (that one in the middle) consists of 2,868 diamonds, 273 pearls, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, and 5 rubies.
The Queen with the Crown Jewels.
Kind of looks like one of those commemorative plates.
I guess I'm just too American.
Also located at Tower Hill is this defensive wall built by the Romans around 200 A.D. As with many "Roman walls", no one is quite sure of the exact reason for their construction. No doubt there was a good reason to keep somebody out.
