We visited the little town of Ciney because they were hosting an antique market. I may have mentioned I'm not really very interested in antiques, but it's fun to go to these markets and just look around.
There was plenty to see inside
and out.
They brew beer there and have been since 1450.
Surprise.
It's not a "touristy" town and is famous for only two things. Beer and cows. They have the largest cattle market in Belgium and they call themselves the capital of the "Blanc Bleu Belge" (Belgian white and blue cow).
It's hard to tell, but these cows are massive.
We decided to drive on to Rochefort.
Guess what. They brew beer there too.
Jim saw this gift set in the window and decided we needed to add this glass to our collection. He said the beer is so much better now that we have that glass.
Rochefort is a small town a little farther south than Ciney. I had no idea it is well known for its caves. Perhaps we can return for another visit and see the caves.
And there's always the beer.
